View all on GoogleI had a disappointing and unprofessional experience with Dr. Chavez at Health Horizons. The appointment began without proper identity verification, and communication quickly became dismissive and argumentative. When I attempted to clarify my reason for referral, I was interrupted multiple times and left without clear guidance or next steps. As a healthcare professional myself, I found the lack of professionalism and patient respect deeply concerning. I hope the clinic reviews this incident to ensure future patients receive the compassionate, respectful care they deserve. On another note, the poor office manager had to be present for most of this uncomfortable encounter. SHE was very kind and understanding, and SHE is appreciated, along with the scheduling and reception staff. *10/20/2025 Editing to add. The night of this encounter, Dr. Komadina actually took time out of his life to call and personally apologize to me. Not only does this change my point of view of the majority of this clinic, but validated me tremendously. I was not only surprised, but extremely grateful to learn my concerns were heard and action was/is being taken. Dr. Komadina is actually the doctor I had intended to see, so hopefully this is a turn in the right direction. Thank you, Dr. K. YOU are appreciated. *10/31/2025 Editing AGAIN. I have yet to receive the refund I was promised by the office manager. When I called, Cami was very kind and professional, but told me the billing manager doesn't come in until 10 or 11am. It’s now been MORE THAN two weeks since the office manager provided a signed agreement confirming my refund, and I’ve had to contact this office where a doctor was so horrible to me with no resolution. What’s even more concerning is that the provider I filed a formal complaint against is still listed as working here, which raises serious questions about accountability, inappropriate PHI disclosures, and patient safety. The lack of follow-through, professionalism, and basic integrity at this clinic is unacceptable. I also find it suspicious that several new 5-star reviews appeared shortly after my initial review — many from individuals who appear to be connected to the supplement products sold in this clinic. Patients deserve honest feedback, not a manipulated rating meant to hide legitimate concerns. Between the unfulfilled refund, the lack of corrective action, and the apparent disregard for patient experiences, this clinic has demonstrated a pattern of poor ethics and weak leadership. I truly hope the Board of Medicine takes these complaints seriously — because no patient should have to fight this hard to be treated with honesty and respect.
Reception is the backbone here! I had a great experience the other morning, the woman in reception is so welcoming and kind. It made my experience so much smoother and stress free. Professional, friendly, and efficient. I felt taken care of even before I saw the provider. Definitely wanted to highlight this moment, she was superb!
Quote a frustrating and dangerous experience here for me. I went in for symptoms I had no idea the origin of, and was sent for hormone testing by my original doctor (who's name I forgot, I saw her for a very short period and she was at her due date and warned me we probably wouldn't meet again for awhile which is totally understandable. However, my followup with the second doctor was very frustrating. She didn't know multiple things that were on my notes and I had to keep reminding her, and despite my testosterone only being low from medication interactions she put me on testosterone. I'm a 26 y/o female with a history of perfect testosterone, and taking test would suppress my natural test (that was already low) which could make me go from medication induced low t to permanently low t. She did not share any of that with me, if she even knew, and she just said take it for 6 months. No follow up, no concern, no 'lets check that this is interacting with your hormones properly in a few weeks' just sent me on my own for 6 months. I had a bad feeling and scheduled a follow up, but the day of my follow up my baby broke out in a measles type rash and we rushed her to UNM hospital per their suggestion. I now have a bill for a no show, as if I just ....chose for my baby to have an emergency visit? Great. I also reduced my testosterone dosage from what she gave me to 1/8th of what she gave me on my own, because I didn't trust her. Regardless, after the no show Bill and all of this I went to another doctor who checked my testosterone and found out I was at over DOUBLE what women's MAXIMUM testosterone levels should be because of the testosterone trouches, even only one 1/8th of the dose!!! Baffling that they never thought they should follow up with me? My emotions have been a wreck because of this since I started taking it, and my acne got out of hand, and Im extremely lucky I didn't have any of the more extreme test overdose symptoms like facial hair, deepened voice or enlarged clitoris. Extremely unsafe and unprofessional and I'd never go back after this.
Nurses and reception are great. Dr Chavez was dismissive and made an extremely uncomfortable comment to me during my appointment. I was not met with compassion or decency from her.
Julianna in reception is tremendous! She goes the extra mile, has an awesome attitude, and works extremely quick! She made my visit. Thank you Julianna!
